This recipe will take your slider game up a notch! The jalapeno jam and arugula adds a delicious balance of sweet and spicy.
Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef
3 yellow onions
1 jar Sutter Produce red jalapeno jam
1/2 cup dijon mustard
slider buns
2 handfuls arugula
4 TB unsalted butter
salt & pepper to taste
Directions
Caramelize the onions:Peel and thinly slice onions from root to stem. Add 3 TB butter to saute pan and melt on medium heat. Add onions and stir to coat with butter. Reduce heat to medium-low and continue to cook, stirring every 5 minutes. Scrape the brown pieces (fond) from the bottom of the skillet with a wooden spoon. Cook slowly and don't stir too frequently to allow the onions to brown. After 30-40 minutes the onions should be golden brown and almost jam like.
When onions have reached desired taste, pour about 1/4 cup water to pan to scrape up the fond from the bottom of the pan and stir. Season with a bit of salt.
While onions are cooking, split ground beef into 12 equal portions and mold into thin patties. Season with salt and pepper. Grill or pan fry to desired temperature.
Butter the slider buns and toast until golden brown.
Assemble the burgers. Add dijon mustard to the bottom of the bun. Add slider, then onion and arugula. Spread a generous amount of Sutter Produce Jalapeno Jam on the top bun.
